The speech that stood out the most to me was Milicia's speech about pornography and the sex industry being empowering to women. I had never heard this side of the argument before. All over media, and most peoples' general opinions, is that the sex industry is not a good or ethical industry to be involved in. Milicia did a great job in showing the other side of the issue. She brought up points about society's views of men having a lot of sex being looked at as "impressive" or "empowering" but when women are thought of as having a lot of sex it is looked down upon and seen as being slutty. Milicia also made a good point when she talked about how this could also be empowering for women. Women in this industry are using their own bodies to make a profit. They are doing this on their own time and know exactly what they are getting themselves into. She even used direct quotes of a strippers that gave their opinions which I thought helped her argument tremendously. I also did not realize how much more a stripper or porn star actually got in a year. For exposing themselves like that I believe that they should get paid the big money that they do. For young women who need to have money to go to college or support themselves this industry gives them the opportunity to make the money they need. A job does not have to define these women as people. It is just simply a job.
