Blog Post Week 11

The Shallows was quite an interesting however quite dry read. He did really get me thinking about how technology has affected and is affecting our mind. However, even after reading The Shallows in its entirety, I still don't feel like Carr was overly sure of himself and didn't really have a solid direction. It was hard to tell whether he was nostalgic for the old times or respectful of new advancements but he certainly got me thinking which perhaps was his goal the entire time. He brings up very interesting and valid comparisons between the advances made in the way we read and take in information and prior technological advancements, especially the printing press. People always say history repeats itself and this is a perfect example. Just as the printing press was expected to destroy the way society took in information and didn't, the internet is currently going through the same thing. Overall, I feel like me reading into his dialogue about technology said more about his point than he did himself.
