Blog Post Week 12

I feel the comic portion of this comic on p.102 (an interesting device itself) was a very strong example of pathos and gives the reader a great glance into exactly how Art felt regarding the losses he experienced and how he handled them. During the story thus far, the reader learns a lot about Vladek and his life but we don't see as much into Art's. This section shines light on the crushing sadness that can be expected from losing someone dear to you as well as the extraordinary guilt running through Art as he struggled to cope with his mother's suicide. This also amazingly showed the effects even surviving the Holocaust can have on someone. One would think after surviving such a tragic event, the rest of your life would be all sugar and gumdrops in comparison, however it still left many in the dark psychologically and unable to cope with the things they saw and lived through firsthand.
