Week 8 Blog Post

Group #1 or the group that discussed the legalization of marijuana used the rhetoric tool of pathos, the appeal to our emotions and logos, the appeal of logic. They used the appeal of pathos when Laura talked about how medical marijuana should be legal in all states. She uses the example of her little brother being an epileptic and how medical marijuana could actually help him. They also brought up the story of the little girl and her family who moved to Colorado just so that they could get medical attention for her disease and marijuana actually helped. I found these examples rhetorically effective. They appeal to logos while still appealing to pathos by showing the video of the man with multiple sclerosis. It shows that medical marijuana really can help some diseases. There is no denying it does not work because once he takes the marijuana he can finally speak with little stuttering while before he could barely get any words out. This appeals to logos because it makes marijuana seem like a logical solution. It also helps us to make the conclusion, how could marijuana be bad when we use it for medical purposes and it actually helps more than it hurts. All in all I think this group made very good points and it made me think about my opinion on the issue and brought up new ideas to me.
