Week 7

The most impactful moment of Chapter 6 of Eating Animals that was most impactful would probably have to be the moment in which the author brings up Bill's story. The story that he has and the viewpoints that he shares, contrasting from his wife makes the story much more relatable. The majority of people I know share the opinions of Bill, as they respect the choices of vegetarians, while wishing to give animals a good life while they are still alive. In contrast, the PETA viewpoint is much more extreme to even someone such as myself, who has remained vegetarian since I was a little girl, is much more of an extreme point of view. In terms of relatability,  the author makes it more personal, bringing viewpoints in that we can all relate to personally. Nicolette and Bill Niman both strike a chord with most  of because their viewpoints are so relatable. Most people when it comes to vegetarian and veganism regard the two as they would regard a disowned, far-off relation: with unease, yet slight disregard in comparison to their ancestors. Their story about how they were able to put their food-related differences aside for each other without changing their stance extremely intensely was extremely effective in making people who indeed have a middle ground regarding this issue have some stance to relate to. In putting this section after those extremes, it allows for us to see what most people have in regarding this field, making it way more relatable to his readers.
