Blog Post #3

I'm really starting to enjoy the way Jonathan Safran Foer has this certain sarcastic side to his writing. In the chapter in which he had a list of definitions of words we associate with talks about the food industry and vegetarian debates, he takes a lot of words we think we know about but we actually don't think about what's really going on behind the scenes. When we see that something is organic or fresh on a label or what have you, we kinda just take it at face value and don't think much further when as far as we know it could have been produced and packaged at exactly the same place in exactly the same way as it's "non-organic/non-fresh" counterpart. We are so gullible as consumers and we don't think for ourselves most of the time when it comes to judging products. We simply accept the lies and "bullshit" that we're fed (pun intended). It really makes you start to think about each and every package you grab off the shelf while you're shopping for groceries.
